Meet D_ESSENCE
D_ESSENCE
Yo Yo my name is Devon , better known as Dee or D-ROC, from East Hartford, Connecticut. Long before D_ESSENCE existed, I developed a true go-getter mentality. From cutting grass and running a paper route to selling mixtapes with my crew, I learned early that if I wanted something, I had to earn it.”Couldn’t Talk About It ,If You Ain’t Live” My passion for sports, music, fashion, sneakers, faith, and Black culture was shaped by the 90s. The school hallway was our social media, where the newest Kicks, Mitchell & Ness throwbacks, and fresh fits told their own story. Traveling to cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. only deepened my appreciation for the culture that continues to inspire my work today.
Life also brought challenges that strengthened my faith. At 16, I lost my little brother, De’Shawn, and years later I lost my sister Kristina. Through those unimaginable moments, God gave me the strength to keep moving forward. Those experiences taught me resilience, gratitude, and the importance of keeping faith at the center of everything I do. My love for sneakers and fashion eventually led me to manage multiple sneaker stores, where I gained real life experience in hand to hand selling, merchandising, customer service, and understanding what truly connects people to the product and culture.
D_ESSENCE is the product of every lesson, every experience, and every chapter of that journey. Built on the principles of Quality, Authenticity, Faith, Nostalgia, and Culture, the brand represents more than clothing. Every design is created in real experiences and inspired by the music, fashion, sports, and culture that shaped my life. My passion is to create meaningful pieces, tell authentic stories, and leave a lasting impact through culture.
Culture Made. Faith Driven. Quality Crafted. Nostalgia Inspired. Always Authentic.
